Deal with unnamed state for 30-ton Sabrah vehicles to be carried out over 3-year period
Israeli defense firm Elbit said Tuesday it had won a contract worth approximately $172 million to supply light tanks to an unnamed Asia-Pacific country.
Elbit’s Sabrah light tank system will be delivered to the country over a three-year period, the company said in a statement. It did not specify how many tanks were included in the deal.
The 30-ton vehicles will be equipped with a 105-millimeter turret and an array of Elbit subsystems, including sights, fire control systems, radio software and life support systems.
Last week, Elbit said its UK subsidiary won a contract worth approximately $137 million from the UK Ministry of Defence to provide the British military with a target acquisition solution.
Earlier this month, the Greek government approved a $1.68 billion agreement to purchase training aircraft from Israel and for Elbit to establish a flight school for Greece’s air force. The deal will see Elbit set up and operate a training school for the Hellenic Air Force. It also includes the sale of 10 Aermacchi M-346 aircraft, known in Israel as the Lavi, and for Elbit to upgrade and maintain Greece’s T-6 training planes.
