Israel's Cornershot weapon demo and sales in India
H.S. Ahlawat, Senior Engineer of Israel-based Alpha Design Technologies (ADT) spoke to Manu Sood, Editor, 8ak on their Indian plans.
Ahlawat revealed that the company was keen to sell their Corner-shot guns to India and would also contemplate local manufacturing if bulk orders were given to the company. Elaborating further he said that the gun considered idle in 26/11 situations had been supplied to the nations elite-counter terror force, the National Security Guards (NSG). Apart from the NSG, Assam Rifles had also procured some pieces and various states forces like Punjab Police, Madhya Pradesh Police, Maharashtra Police and Jammu and Kashmir police were very keen to buy the weapon.
The Indian market for the corner-shot is huge, especially after the 26/11 carnage, where the lack of sophisticated corner-shot weapon was visible. The Indian army has also launched a RFI for the procurement of these weapons, to which ADT has also responded. The plan is to initially equip the Para-SF and some infantry units of the Indian army. The RFI floated by the army specifies that the weapon should be able to engage its target beyond 200mts. The corner-shot weapons have a bright future in India as it is considered to increase the safety of the soldiers and at the same time reduces the stress levels during close combats.
An interesting video to watch for weapon enthusiasts as Ahlawat describes the entire weapon to 8ak and elaborates on the special features it has.
