Is a new hypersonic arms race underway?

President Vladimir Putin says Russia will soon be the first to deploy "invincible" hypersonic missiles.

He says the Avangard weapon guarantees Russian security for decades to come. Supersonic is slow compared with hypersonic.

Flying at many times the speed of sound, they are designed to evade missile shield systems to strike anywhere in the world.

Wednesday's test-firing hasn't been independently verified.

But with the United States, China - and possibly others - developing similar technology, how big a threat are the new, high-speed weapons?

I have said it before, these are the new tanks. Revolutionary as tank warfare was.

The Blitz will be hypersonic missile attacks on all your SAMs and airbases. Then come the regular cruise missiles to finish the second wave attack. Followed by the airforce and army to end the war. The blitzkrieg is the hypersonic attack.

The only defense is the gatling gun, radar guided and dozens of them spraying out lead. That and S-400s at low speed hypersonic missiles.

Stockpile manpads and TOWs and not in depots. But all throughout the army. Hundreds of thousands of each, because ADS will be outdated very soon. No SAMs to defend missile and air attack and no tanks or vehicles because they are all be hit by guided bombs because of no air defense.
