An Iranian owned ship by the name of The Eglantine carrying 63,000 tonnes of sugar from Brazil on its way to Iran has been hijacked near India along with its 23 crew on board. Iran is an importer of sugar and with current sanctions in place it has become difficult for Iranian government to buy food stuff from international markets. The piracy and hijacking of ships has made it even more difficult for whatever little being imported since Iran can no longer buy international insurance for its ships under sanctions too: Iran-bound Brazilian sugar ship hijacked off India | Reuters
