Iran & Oman set the stage for joint military exercises
Iran and Oman have signed a memorandum of understanding which includes exchanging defensive-military delegations, accelerating the implementation of agreements signed by Iran-Oman military friendship committee, and preparing grounds for holding joint war games.
Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi and Omani Minister Responsible for Defense Affairs who held talks in Muscat also pledged to expand defense ties.
Vahidi also met Omans Sultan, Qaboos bin Said Al Said.
The Omani Sultan called for expansion of cooperation and said Tehran-Muscat ties are rooted in mutual trust.
He also expressed satisfaction at Irans scientific and technological progresses, saying the entire Muslim world must enjoy Irans scientific achievements.
Islamic nations should increase their scientific cooperation since specialist workforce is an important element in forming a prosperous future for nations, the Omani leader explained.
Vahidi, for his part, thanked Omans support for stronger Tehran-Muscat ties particularly in defense areas.
He went on to say that cooperation among regional countries is essential for resolving problems facing the region and the Islamic world.
It is necessary that regional countries form a collective security pact, the Iranian defense chief opined.
The minister also said the Iranophobia project, promoted by the Zionist regime, has gone nowhere as Iran has established amicable ties with regional countries.
