Iran fields 'massive' number of missile launchers

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — An Iranian semi-official news agency reports the country has fielded a "massive" number of new long-range missile launchers.

The Sunday report by Fars quotes Defense Minister Gen. Ahmad Vahidi as saying the new weapons enable Iranian forces to "crush the enemy" with the mass simultaneous fire of long-range surface-to-surface missiles.

The report did not specify the type of missile that would be fired, nor more details on the number of launchers deployed.

Some of Iran's surface-to-surface missiles are estimated to have ranges of over 2,000 kilometers (1,200 miles), capable of hitting its arch-foe Israel and the U.S. bases in the region.

Vahidi did not specify who was the "enemy" and said Iran would never start a war.

From time to time Iran announces military achievements that cannot be independently verified.

well , fore sure Iran have more than 100 - 200 mobile missile launcher .... westerns discussed to how they would manage to crush all of Iran mobile launchers in wars for some years and claimed that IRan couldn't make Ballistic missile mobile launchers by himself so he ( Iran ) has only 100 -200 mobile launchers in worst case ...

The launchers were supplied to the IRGC's Aerospace Force in a special ceremony attended by Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi and Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh.

The ceremony was held on the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr city from Iraqi occupation during the eight-year Iraqi imposed war on Iran in the 1980s (May 24).

Addressing the ceremony, Vahidi said that the delivery of such a large number of missile launchers demonstrates the Islamic Republic of Iran's self-sufficiency in designing and building the strategic system and shows the Iranian Armed Forces' massive firepower and their ability to give a crushing response to the enemy.

He added that the Iranian defense industries are now capable of producing different home-made weapons and military systems in aerospace, naval, air, ground, electronic and optic fields.

Earlier this month, the defense ministry started mass-production of a highly mobile home-made air-defense system.

The production line of the new system, Herz (Protector) 9, was inaugurated in a special ceremony attended by Vahidi on the occasion of Khorramshahr liberation anniversary.

Fine,believe everything..u believed failed photoshopped SAM launch,fake uav,fake 5th gen fighter.If they had the massive numbers of missiles why wouldn't they just let the launchers be photographed with the missiles.Thats what evry nation trying to showcase its military might does.1st time i'm seeing military might being declared with empty launchers.
