Internal Audit-Customs finalises report of gold scam worth Rs 250-300b, vows to make it public

KARACHI: The Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs has finalized its report on gold smuggling scam.

The sources informed Customs Today that the authorities concerned of Internal Audit-Customs have prepared a comprehensive report of massive gold scam amounting to Rs 250-300 billion.

The sources further informed that the authorities concerned of Internal Audit-Customs have informed the high authorities of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) but has not publicized its findings in this regard yet, as the names of some influential personalities are also included in the report.

They further said that the authorities concerned of Internal Audit are in tremendous pressure in order to change the findings of the gold scam report, but the Customs authorities are not taking any of such pressure and are determined to make the findings of the report public.

The sources further revealed that the recent transfer of an additional director from the Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs was an episode of these pressure tactics while the authorities concerned of the Directorate of Customs Intelligence are still determined to go with the actual findings of the report.

It is pertinent to mention here that the gold smuggling scam was unearthed in last year and Federal Intelligence Agency (FIA) carried out the investigation into the said matter.

Subsequently, the FBR high authorities asked the Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs to carry out the investigation into the said case.


During the investigation, the Customs authorities not only focused the export of gold but also investigated the import record and enlarged the scam up to Rs 250-300 billion.

During the investigation, the authorities concerned also found that the Customs officials are also involved in the scam.

Now, it is a matter of great apprehension that how the authorities concerned of FBR will handle the prevailing situation over releasing the gold scam report.

The report should be made public ASAP without any further delay in a massive press conference attended by all TV channels reps. Public should know the gandey kartoot of these corrupt leeches.

1. so what ?. arent the public entities loosing more than 600 billion rupees each year.?
2. is not PIA owns public debts crossed 350 billion rupees.?
3. is not Pakistan paying more than 4 million dollars as penalties for not using developing loans from international donors?
4. is not the receivables from known entities crossed over 400 billion rupees in power sector?
5. is not gas sector losing 10% of gas (400MCF) mostly to industrial and CNG sector? (amount over 20 billion in local and if imported over 120 billion rupees)
6. what happened of 86 billion rupees oil/gas scam whose culprit was remanded from Europe last year?
7. what about tax evasion and fraud?
8. what about billion rupees loans servicing on circular debt that should be there in first place? we pays billions in interest on circular debt that is than extracted from customers (40 billion rupees last year)

all of the above are pure gross mismanagements.

each example is more or less than total expenditure on all development projects per year(PSDP is usually 300-400billion)

well ask the people who are parsing the govt for its miraculous polices.
if you praise the govt who is over looking trillions of rupees of on going corruption how do you expect it to react to a few hundred billion rupees scam?

I am talking about the everyday man who says this is nothing! Given few hundred billion to Pakistan, we could be free off our debts!
