ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry has submitted a progress report on the status of the missing persons to the office of the Supreme Court Registrar on the courts directives.
The Supreme Court had directed the Inspector General of Police Islamabad to make coordinated efforts with the Interior Ministry and IGP Punjab for the missing persons recovery.
In a surprise move, the Supreme Court took notice of a protest by the missing persons relatives on Wednesday morning after Amna Janjua, the wife of the one missing Masood Janjua, managed to enter the Red Zone and establish a camp right outside the Supreme Court three days ago.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry summoned Secretary Interior, IG Islamabad and RPO Rawalpindi and asked them to submit a report on the status of recovery of the missing persons.
During the hearing, the Chief Justice also inquired as to how Amna Janjua managed to enter the Red Zone and establish her camp outside the Supreme Court.
IG Islamabad submitted before the court that he held a meeting with the Interior Secretary to devise a strategy for the resolution of the missing persons issue.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry also directed the authorities to tell Amna Janjua the true situation regarding her husbands status and to take her into confidence on the progress made for her husbands recovery.
Later, IG Islamabad Kaleem Imam, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and DG Crisis Cell met the Registrar of the Supreme Court and submitted the progress report. DawnNews
