J&K: Pakistan violates ceasefire in Rajouri, one jawan martyred

NEW DELHI: An Indian Army jawan was killed in cross-border firing across the Line of Control on Friday by Pakistani army in Sunderbani sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, ANI reported.

According to ANI, Rifleman Jayadrath Singh has lost his life in unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan.

"Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked firing on Indian Army posts in Rajouri district at around 6pm today. Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively," Jammu-based defence spokesperson said.




This is the second ceasefire violation in the state within 12 hours.





Earlier, Pakistani troops violated ceasefire along the Line of Control in north Kashmir's Nowgam sector for the third consecutive day and in Keran sector but there were no casualties in the unprovoked firing from across the LoC.


Pakistan has violated ceasefire in north Kashmir six times in the last nine days.




On July 12, two soldiers - Lance Naik Ranjit Singh and Rifleman Satish Bhagat - were killed when they were targeted by Pakistani troops while manning forward posts in Keran sector of Kupwara district.
