The Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi paid a courtesy call on Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Jagath Jayasuriya at the Office of the CDS yesterday (28th November).
A cordial discussion was held between the visiting admiral Joshi and general Jayasuriya on matters of bilateral importance between the two friendly states. Initiatives were also made to further strengthen the friendly relationship between India and Sri Lanka. Mementoes were also exchanged between two officials to mark the occasion.
Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi joined the Indian Navy as an Officer Cadet in January 1972 and he was commissioned on 1st April 1974. He has held a number of appointments in command, operational and administrative spheres during his tenure in the Indian Navy. He also served as the Defence Advisor to the Indian High Commission in Singapore from 1996 to 1999.
