The Indian Coast Guard has commissioned four new vessels at Porbandar in the western state of Gujarat. The vessels - the Aadesh-class fast patrol ship ICGS Ankit(pennant number 247) and the interceptor boats C-419, C-420, and C-155 - were commissioned on 14 May.

In recent months, the coastguard has been commissioning multiple ships simultaneously due to a raft of deliveries generated by a number of build programmes under way at the same time.

The 50 m Ankit is the 12th of 20 fast patrol ships being built by Cochin Shipyard Ltd. Unlike the first 10 vessels, Ankit (and ship 11 Anagh ) are armed with a manually operated 40 mm Bofors gun in place of the 30 mm CRN-91 gun mount and associated electro-optical fire-control system.

Insha'Allah, Indian Coast Guard will be ahead of many mainstream Navy in our neighborhood within a decade.
That is the plan to take care of Indian defence while having Navy go out with full strength of 150 warships to deal with external threats.

Maybe Wishful thinking.
modular 16 Cell SAM (Astra/Barak 8) VLS and quad Brahmos Launchers with a fast turnaround installation on ASW corvettes like the Kamorta class, Saryu and Sukanya class OPV's. for the navy and some of the coast guard platforms like the GSL class OPV and Pipavav class OPV.

May be a smaller 8 cell Brahmos M launchers for the smaller ships like to Cochin class Patrol vessels for ICG, and Car Nicobar class for IN

is it some kind of international rule that coast guard ships can not be armed with long range weapon systems???o_O

No i don't think so...

Usually they are not armed with long rang weapons becasue the ship is small and they don't need to go long rang and fight any other navy,.

Now arming our patrol ships with brahmos and torpedo will boost our National Security . 4 brahmos can easily go into smaller vessels
