Nokia, the Finnish telecom giant which is set to close the sale of its phone business to Microsoft, is expected to name Indian-born Rajeev Suri as its CEO, according to a Helsinki newspaper.

Suri, 42, has been a leading contender for the job because he help turn around the company’s network division called Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN).
The company has neither denied or confirmed the report, which appeared in a business daily Helsingin Sanomatpaper.
This will be Nokia’s core business after the sale of its phones to Microsoft — also headed by an Indian born, Satya Nadella — for $7.5 billion in September.
That deal, however, was clinched by then Microsoft CEO Steven Ballmer, who had already announced he was leaving. Nadella was then a contender for the top job.
Born in 1967, Suri has a Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics and Telecommunications) degree from Mangalore University. He has been with Nokia for 19 years.
At NSN, he was tasked to head the Asia Pacific region in 2007 first, and then the entire unit globally in 2009. He is largely credited with its turnaround since.
The NSN executive board has two others of Indian descent — Deepti Arora, vice-president, quality; and Ashish Chowdhary, executive vice-president/president, Asia, West Asia and Africa.
The daily also said the company could change its name.
