Indian Airtel & Chinese Huawei Partnership in Bangladesh
Bharti Airtel, an Indian telecommunications service provider, will team up with Ericsson & Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. to expand its mobile communications business in Bengal.
Bharti says that it will not reveal the financial details of its cooperation with the two partners. Ericsson will be responsible for expanding most of the network capacity in Bengal and Huawei will upgrade the network in east part of the country.
The mobile communications division of Bharti grows rapidly amid the severe competition with other domestic carriers, thanks to the sound economic growth in India. Its user base has swelled from 200,000 of 2001 to 62 million.
Bharti provides mobile phone service in 19 countries of Asia and Africa. The company is the world's fifth largest mobile phone carrier in terms of user base.
Last month, it selected Ericsson, Huawei and Nokia Siemens Networks as the equipment suppliers for its 3G mobile network in India.

India's Bharti Airtel said on Thursday that it would partner with telecom gear makers Ericsson and Huawei to build and manage its mobile network in Bangladesh .
Bharti did not give financial details of the agreements, but said in a statement that Ericsson would manage majority of the company's network capacity in Bangladesh.
Last month, India's top mobile phone operator Bharti selected Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks and Huawei Technologies as its network equipment partners for third-generation (3G) mobile services in the country.
