India to train 100 Sri Lankan student Navy officers
Apr 09, Colombo: Indian Navy will train 100 student officers of Sri Lanka Navy on an Indian Navy ship, Indian daily Hindustan Times reported today.
The move is aimed at strengthening the bilateral defence ties between the two countries, the report said.
"The student officers would be given exposure to various activities on board, including seamanship, Bridgeman ship, damage control, and fire fighting exercises during their stay," Hindustan Times quoted an Indian navy officer.
According to the Indian Navy officer, the training would be conducted on the tank landing ship INS Magar and the Sri Lankan student officers would embark on the ship at Trincomalee in eastern Sri Lanka on Monday.
