Friends, Saina Nehwal has just won the Gold medal in Women's Single Badminton and with this India finish second in the medals tally with 38 golds in CWG 2010!!!

India also crossed the 100 medal mark with a total of 101 medals!

England finish a close third.

Commonwealth Games Medals Tally: India Finish Second​

An impressive showing by Indian athletes powered India to a historic second-place finish in the Commonwealth Games that ended here today.

England were beaten to second place in the Commonwealth Games medals table by India.

Australia topped the medals table winning 74 gold medals.

The hosts finish the 2010 Commonwealth Games with 101 medals overall while England garnered 141. Australia bagged 177 medals.

wow thats some news...add to that some 101 medals in total...and that too when soooo many giants failed this time......lots of work to be done to to get to the highest level though....

keep marching ahead....no matter how much it pains no matter how much it rains.....hehhehe
 
England was unlucky to miss 59 golds. That is a reason why we were able to get on 2nd spot.

We still need to improve. I am not saying about ranking. I am saying about participation. We are still not participating in few of events like cycling, swimming and lawnball.

I do agree that we have a long long way to go but whatever we have achieved cannot be undermined by attributing all of it to 'luck'.

For example, anybody who saw Saina Nehwal's gold medal contest with the Malaysian player, knows how important a factor 'luck' was in her win when she won many points when the shuttle just rolled over the netr into her opponent's court.

But still she could not have won had she not fought her way back into the game starting the last points of the second game.
