There are lots of Groups and People across all platforms , from online to offline , who are spreading weird notions . Like the following :

Hindu = Black , Thief , Slave in arabic
Originally Hindu were the people living East of Indus .

I believe , After CA invaders started harassing the natives , the definitions like Slave , Black , Thief stuck to Hindu .

India = People of Indus and East of Indus . Later ,This to some extent also covered territories of South East Asia as they were following the same cultural practices .
As per some people , In OXFORD dictionary India means old fashioned , poor , criminal people etc .

In my opinion , this idea stuck to India during the British rule when we were harassed and turned into a poor nation . Before British came searching for India , it was a Rich civilization .

So those spreading hate about Words Hindu and India should get some checkup by Best people .
Stop spreading hate about India and Hindu .

Hindu is a corruption of the word Sindhu. Sindhus were/are inhabitants of roughly the modern region of Sindh. East or West of Indus didn't matter.

While we use India to describe, we haven't left out our original name "Bharat". India is just the manifestation from the word Indus which the Greeks used to address and Identify the subcontinent. We are more than happy if anyone use India to refer us unless and until they identify and respect us because of our culture and values we uphold. So no issues if they refer my country as India or Bharat.

As far as I know , Vedic Tribes Weren't limited to Sapth-Sindhu region . If one reads Vedas , one can clearly see the migration of people from Sindhu region to Ganges plain .

Not sure about the entire subcontinent, but certainly present day India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri-Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, parts of China and extended upto Indonesia were collectively known as India by foreigners. The names Dutch and British East India companies were not born without any reason.
