Imran’s old friend says: Know his importance before it’s too late

ISLAMABAD: A UK-based expatriate and the closest associate of Imran Khan, Umar Khan Yousafzai, 65, has said that after the Imran Khan’s accident on Tuesday, the people must realise his importance for Pakistan.

Talking to The News in an exclusive interview, Yousafzai, who has been Imran’s close associate for the last 50 years, said: “I believe that the incident has not decreased the chances of Imran Khan’s becoming the next prime minister of the country rather it has opened eyes of many people who have been ignorant about his importance so far, and now they must have known that ‘Naya Pakistan’ deserves Imran Khan.”

Yousafzai, however, advised that for the time being (till the recovery of Imran Khan), his party workers must continue the campaign in their respective areas on their own to show solidarity with their leader.

He said: “It is not just today but since long that I have been saying that whatever Imran Khan has said will definitely prove it practically only if he is given a chance. But right now, his health is more important than holding Jalsas and meetings which can well be managed by his party workers if they want. Imran Khan is not a common man or a politician, but there is something extraordinary about him, which has gained him an exemplary fame throughout the country and across the world.

“Unlike other politicians, Imran possesses numerous qualities like not being a hypocrite but a fully determined and committed personality which is rare.”Yousafzai opined that if the people of Pakistan could not be made him a success then the country would be unfortunate enough for not realising the importance of Imran Khan even at this stage.

One man can change the destiny of a Nation. Examples are people like Mustafa Kamal Ataturk or Salehuddin Ayubi.
