Imran Khan reached Khaplu, District Ghanche, Gilgit-Baltistan, where he met with delegations of Insaf Student Federation, Baltistan, Insaf Youth Wing, and representives of PTI, GB. He discussed party organization and overall situation of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Further, he met with common people from every walk of life and discussed their issues. Arrangements are under way for his visit to victim families of Kohistan, Chilas and Lolosar Incident, where he will condole losses of innocent lives of their beloved ones.

Had an intense meeting with leading Shia Aalim Sh Hassan Jafri of GB who has an 8000 Juma congregation. We held a joint press conference at PC we declared it was job of govt 2 protect all its citizens but it had utterly failed 2 do so, leaving the Shia community terrorized. Sh Jafri & myself called on CJ of SC to take suo moto action on the targeted killings of Shias. I also had meetings with Ulema from Ahle Sunnat, Ahle Hadith & Noor Bakhshi of the Sufi Order which has tremendous following in GB. All the Ulema condemned the Shia killings & sought peace & harmony. They condemned the state & govt for failing to protect the people. All the Ulema agreed there was a deliberate effort 2 create Shia-Sunni conflict as part of a conspiracy against Islam. Equally all agreed that it was govt's job to ensure the safety and protection of all its people. Unfortunately the govt had failed to do so.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan asked Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry to take suo motu notice of Shia killings in Balochistan and Gilgit, while addressing a joint press conference with prominent Shia leader Sheikh Jaffery and the leader of Sunnat Wal Jamaat Maulana Khalil.
Terming the Babusar killings which left 21 innocent people dead as a terrible tragedy, Khan said that the government had completely failed in controlling the law and order situation in the country.
He questioned as to why the chief justice was taking suo motu notices of relatively trivial matters but not taking action against sectarian killings. Adding that it was good that the chief justice had taken notice of the incumbent government’s failures but it also needed to give special consideration to the issue of brutal Shia killings.
Khan, on his visit to Skardu, visited leaders of different sects to promote sectarian harmony in the country. He promised that the PTI will continue raising its voice against terrorist organisations that were trying to create a conflict through sectarian killings.
Over 300 Shias have been killed in the ongoing sectarian strife across the country this year alone.
Recently, during an inter-faith conference, Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s chief Altaf Hussain had warned that sectarianism might break the country into pieces.
