This spectacular picture shows our universe as we have never seen it before.
It was taken by a satellite sent almost a million miles into space to record the oldest light in the cosmos.
The biggest image is the Milky Way, as it looks now. The bright strip across the middle is a side-on view of our galax y's main disc, where our own Earth and Solar System are.
The reddish images in the background come from soon after the time of the Big Bang, when the Universe was formed 14billion years ago.
The picture was taken by the Planck satellite, launched last year by the European Space Agency at a cost of £496million.
Planck scientist Dr Jan Tauber said: "It's a spectacular picture, a thing of beauty."

Image of the entire Universe released by the European Space Agency - spots of extraterrestrial civilizations

The space telescope Planck finally shows the hot spots of extraterrestrial civilizations across the universe. The all sky imagery shows the pathway of the formation of the universe 13.1 billions years ago.

European Space Agency Director of Science and Robotic Exploration, David Southwood, said: “We''re not giving the answer. We are opening the door to an Eldorado where scientists can seek the nuggets that will lead to deeper understanding of how our Universe came to be and how it works now."

The scientific community has started analyzing the spectacular image from the Planck. The most striking are the streamers of cold dust reaching above and below the Milky Way. It shows the possible extraterrestrial settlement of type 2 and type 3 categories.

According to the scientific community analyzing the massive photo sets, Planck has found many locations where individual stars are edging toward birth or just beginning their cycle of development. There are evidence that Type 3 and Type 4 extraterrestrial civilizations are involved in the formation of these star systems and constellations.

The Planck will continue to form images of the entire universe till 2012.
