Discussions between the defense ministries of Italy and Israel over the latter's possible future use of the Alenia Aermacchi M-346 trainer have included a suggestion for Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) to supply the NATO nation with four airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) system aircraft.

Talks have intensified over recent weeks in a bid to prepare "a full package" before the end of this year, according to sources.

Will it be the same system which has been offered to India...or will there be any modifications? Any Idea?

As i understand India recieved EL/M-2075, IAI offering Italy EL/M-2085 which is in use with IsAF and Singapore

The EL/M-2085 was first offered to IAF but it was rejected due to high maintenance costs in addition to the maintenance of small aircraft(G-5s) running the platform. The much larger EL/M-2075 suits our current needs perfectly.

Oh..thats news to me! BTW when did India start rejecting hardware due to maintenance issues? ;)
Anyways..as I have read, EL/M-2085 is more advanced than EL/M-2075. Can EL/M-2075 be upgraded in future to EL/M-2075's standards?

India and Israel are reportedly discussing the delivery of three additional IL-76TD based AEW planes. The IL-76 AEW is designed for mission extending over 9 hours, IAI is also eying Indian prospects for smaller, more affordable AEW platforms that could sustain five-seven hour missions, keeping operating costs at the minimum without compromising AEW capabilities. IAI also offered the Gulfstream G5 based EL/M-2085 Conformal AEW (CAEW) which can remain on a mission for 11 hours, but deemed too costly for the Indian requirement.

According to IAI website the one that they sold to India might be EL/W-2090? and Israel/Singapore operate EL/W-2085
they just playing with names, anyhow to maintain IL-76 is more costly than G550, G550 has higher ceiling and longer endurance

Currently IAI offers two platforms:

EL/M-2085 with 2 L-band and 2 S-band AESA radars on smaller platform (G550).
EL/M-2090 with 3 L-band AESA radars on larger platform (Il-76, Boeing 767, A-400M).

India recieved EL/M-2090. EL/M-2075 bought Chile.

I was talking about the small/medium range aircraft platform specifically to cater to India's case brah.Of course the IL-76 is more costly than G550!!!

3 L-band radars like on IL-76 provide better 360 grad coverage than 2 L-band + 2 S-band like on G-550, since S-band radars have lower detection range especially against stealth targets.

G550 platform has much lower operating costs, longer endurance and ceiling, so both have pros and cons.
