The next-generation KFX aircraft is set to enter series production in the middle of the next decade. One estimate is that South Korea sought help from Israel in the radar field due to an American refusal to transfer technology to it.

The radar is actually developed by Hanwa System (Korean) and Elta is assisting Hanwa. This is from the news:

"Elta Systems, a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries, is providing assistance to South Korean firm Hanwha Systems to develop the KFX's AESA radar."

Other news

According to the agreement, ELTA will provide technology support for operational testing of the radar. "It's about technology support related to the operation test of a prototype radar, not the development itself," the DAPA said.

what is the purpose to develop it if you cannot have critical technologies on your own? seems like previous government started the project and got changed. Now, new puppies just keep it to show off, in reality, doesnt need to spend that much money..

They will use IAI parts as they will assisting, it will be difficult for Indonesia in the end. When they refuse you will understand what kind mistake you made.

refuse to what?

Your defence industry and favor from the west will backfire, they already saw it with Americans refusing ToT to Indonesia. The parts your industry getting from the west will happen the same, Indonesia should joined TFX. Looks like Korean project will see more problems then Turkish. Still wishing them the best.

In Indonesian section of forum, when I read some details about KF-X, I was really surprized. AESA radar, Flight control computer, Avionics, engines, stealth fuselage design, IRST, E/O systems, jammer, self protection systems and other core technologies; KFX depends on US approval on each steps. I think S.Korea wont face with any limitation because they enjoys non-stop backing while behaving like a well-behaved boy of US in region but I wouldn’t say same thing for Indonesia. When Indonesia wants to do something that US don’t want, They will use sanction card. Lack of spare parts will cause a disaster. They will even put their nose into their arm procurement projects If they lean on Russian or Chinese armaments. Turkey has vast of experiences about them.
