And yet again I feel like smoking, the feeling comes up and starts clawing away from the inside.

I'm reading a book, it's quite a good one but it has been an hour. And yet I feel like smoking!

I am in office and then simply an hour passes by without work, and yet I feel like smoking.

I am responding to a preposterous post on PDF, I have been for some time and yet I feel like smoking again!

It has been 13 days since I smoked, every single day at least a hundred times I felt like smoking again.

I am attempting to write a poem, and yet I feel like smoking again!

Why do I feel like smoking again?

Its the nicotine still trace in your blood stream and nicotinic receptors.

Take every day as a major personal triumph and victory.

Treat it as a recurring deposit investment which you will lose completely the first puff you have.

The longer the quit the bigger the investment the stronger the investment to say no and soldier on.

Chew gum. Lots of gum. The mouth needs to stay active.

Stay away from chai tapris and suttebaaz friends.

Enjoy the reducing black crap you hawk up in the basin every morning.

Not an addict but can't help not to smoke when feeling depressed . I don't know why . Depression goes down after smoking a little

I smoked for 19 years man.

The first time I quit was in 2002. For 7 months. Then on a cold wet bike ride I had a puff. And that was the end of it. With a bang.

The second time was the current quit. Cold turkey. More than 3 years ago. Lots of chewing gum. And determination.

It was worth it. Though I did put on some weight.

Stick at it. Keep posting whenever you get the urge. :)

^^ I guess, the quitters have to fight this feeling for the rest of our lives

Yea I think it is important if you stop that you realise that you should not succumb to temptation. I stopped smoking cigs for 2 years and then at Xmas I met this mate of mine and we were celebrating some deal and he gave me 1 cigar. I enjoyed it so much that I felt 1 every month would not do any harm. The next thing was 1 a week, then 1 a day and now 10 a day lol.

So if you do give up do not look back

Not at all. You do have to be ON GUARD always. Its a dangerous sneaky drug. One of the oldest and strongest addictions known to man.

But the feeling, the urge, goes.

Now when I see a guy smoke, I purposefully sidle closer and sniff a few puffs just for kicks. No urge.

In fact when I see a guy inhaling deep, I remember the raw feeling in my throat, the constant smokers hack, and I feel much better.

Absolutely. Thats why I said its a sneaky drug. It makes your body want more. Yet makes you feel you are in control.

The first fag is the end of your quit.

But despair not. There is always a next time.

Point for all smokers is that it has to come from within. The fire in your arse to quit.

No amount of wife or kids' nagging will make you do it.

One way I have been dealing with the massive earth shattering urge is to compare smoking with the feeling just before puking.. I just try to imagine that taking a puff will make me puke..

I stopped suddenly, used a close friend's marriage to pull the hand brake.. Tried the nicotine gums, its the whole experience of a drag that got me hooked, so that was a no go.. Knew only one thing, it would be all at once or never..

Hope I can go on...

Not necessarily. I started smoking in 1995 and in 2001 I was asked by a close friend of mine to make a promise to quit smoking. I didn't want to but had to for the sake of not hurting her and since then the only time I miss the fun of smoking(mind it - no craving) is when my friends have a get together and smoke nice Cigars.
