Japan to give hybrid vehicles worth Rs 490m to Pak

ISLAMABAD: The government of Japan will provide hybrid vehicles worth Rs 490 million to Pakistan for improving capabilities of law enforcement agencies in the country.

An agreement to this effect was signed between Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Hiroshi Inomata and Secretary Economic Affairs Division Nargis Sethi on Thursday.

This assistance is provided in the form of Japan’s Non-Project Grant Aid (NPGA), promotion of socio-economic development efforts in developing countries by providing foreign currency for the import of necessary goods or commodities.

The Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Communications have submitted their requests to procure hybrid vehicles under this NPGA for the police agencies under their umbrella.

Further details of the procurement will be determined between the Japanese and Pakistani counterparts.

Nargis sethi till on key post... what irony !

These hi tech cars are for law enforcement? You mean, the police will be driving these?

lolz they cant even chase a normal corolla if they are given to the police, at least in Karachi there is a very large population of seriously modded cars. these cars are useless if they are chasing high speed cars. and the is she Najam sethis' wife aur daughter?

I think its Toyota Prius, a hybrid successful car in Pakistan.
Toyota Prius for law enforcement on our country's roads even in major cities would be a failure unless they are modified.

Prius's ground clearance isn't good on our roads and a slight load makes it worst.

Toyota Prius and honda hybrids have been a great success in Pakistan.

Suzuzki, Indus motors Toyotra and Honda Atlas are selling triple price cars comparing to world rates.
