How China is taking over Latin America

Jul 2, 2022 China is racing for influence in Latin America. – and it's going head to head with the US. But is all this a debt trap with bad intentions for influence? Or could this be a good thing?

You, the reader, be the judge...

Chinese loans have higher interest rates than those from international institutions like the International Monetary Fund or The World Bank or bilateral loans from Paris Club countries, and also have shorter repayment windows. Their setup is closer to commercial loans concerning their conditions of repayment, confidentiality as well as their objectives of funding specific infrastructure projects instead of pursuing development goals in general.

If true why the borrow from China, not from US? Did you ever even try to ask yourself this simple and obvious question?

There are plenty of experts in international finance and economy who posed that question, and they have plenty more info than you do. Maybe you should use that wonderful American invention call 'the internet' and use keywords search and find out from various sources on why Africa chose Chinese loans over others. Might learn something.

Almost all developing countries prefer borrowing money from China instead of US, they all used to borrow from you and know so well the result, people learned from past lessons.

And China will give them new ones when they become Chinese colonies. :enjoy:

US has a trillion dollars in debt with China. Maybe we should ask US about Chinese debt-trap.
