Hellenic Mirage 2000-5 vs. Turkish F-16

[GVIDEO]http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=983547279983949319&q=dogfight[/GVIDEO]
This video was taken by a pilot of the Hellenic Airforce. The video captures a dogfight between a Hellenic Mirage 2000-5 and a Turkish ... all » F-16. The location of the dogfight is believed to be over the north Eastern Aegean. The Turkish F-16 enters air space of the Hellenic Republic of Greece. A pair of Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets are dispatched. The ensuing dog fight results in a "lock" signal of the Turkish fighter by the Greek pilot. This kind of violation of Hellenic air space by Turkey occurs on a daily basis. In fact Turkey not only violates Turkish air space on a regular basis, but it is also illegally holding 37% of the island of Cyprus, which it invaded in 1974. Kind of makes you wonder what kind of "European" construct the Turkish government has adopted to enter the EU...

How is Turkey suppose to violate its own air space? Makes me kind of wonder about the guy who published the video.

I am sorry my friend the google video you picked up and not your fault at all the info provided by the video provider is wrong. It was an F-16 not a Mirage This is a HUD of an F-16c Block 52 .

Just before 13.00h local time a pair of Greek F-16 was scrambled to intercept a pair of Turkish F-16 jets ecorting an RF-4E Phantom recce plane over the Aegean Sea.

After the intercept, the fighter jets were maneuvering around each other in a mock dogfight. During the course of this, two F-16s collided and subsequently crashed.

The crash happened around 13.00h (6 a.m. ET) about 12 miles off the coast of the Greek island of Karpathos. The collision was witnessed by an EgyptAir airplane that was passing by.

The Turkish pilot Lt Halil Ibrahim Ozdemir ejected safely and was saved by a freighter under Panamanian flag, but refused to board a Greek SAR helicopter. The Greek pilot has reportedly not survived the accident. Greek Super Puma and Turkisch Cougar SAR helicopters have been dispatched to the area.

The TUAF F-16 was an F-16C block 50 from 192 Filo (based at Balikesir) that took off from Dalaman, and was part of a two-ship formation escorting an RF-4E towards Crete. The Greek aircraft was an F-16C block 52+.

Greece and Turkey regularly accuse each other of tresspassing into eachother's airspace, and the subsequent intercepts regularly result in mock dogfights between warplanes over the Aegean sea.

Greece's defense ministry claims it daily scrambles several fightes to intercept Turkish aircraft that it says have invaded its airspace.

Geece and turkey came close to war in 1996 but have considerably improved relations since then. However, the territorial disputes about the Aegean Sea and over the divided island of Cyprus remains unresolved.

I have quoted Google summary and not my own. Editing it would be unethical, wouldn't it?
