Check out the rockets being fired by the Hamas. Pretty crude by fairly cost effective. In contrast is Israel's horrendously expensive Iron Dome anti missile system which needless to say isn't 100% proof!

What an irony. A $40,000 missile which is part of a $50 million anti missile battery of the Iron Dome system, trying to block a few dollars worth of a rocket!! And still getting the stick!!

If this doesn't suck, what does? :cheesy:

Gaza attacks look more like a missile testing project to me

I think you're right. They are refining the Iron Dome anti missile system there. Starting a 'fight' with the Hamas could be a false flag operation.

Sarcasm aside I was just pointing out what it might look like...to you be your thoughts and to me mine!

And those were intercepted by Iron dome.

That's a bit like saying a bullet proof vest is useless because a bullet is cheaper.

Sorry. The fact is that Hamas attempted to hit the nuclear reactor at Dimona in Israel with 3 rockets on Wednesday afternoon. The Iron Dome intercepted one rocket before it could land, while two other rockets landed in open areas.

So, in other words, the Iron Dome has only a 30% kill probability!!

I would like to see the Iron Dome against our Nasr Missiles !!!

Its meant to destroy targets as small as mortar shells to protect Israeli citizens. Obviously, not all of them will be intercepted before they hit the ground, but each intercepted shell or rocket can save a live, and you know how serious they are about each and every single life of their citizens!

Furthermore it is also a psychological weapons, as much as the Hamas rockets which are also psychological weapons.

And last but not least, dont forget that its still a very young system which is still in development!

Those bigger missiles are most likely much easier to intercept for an advanced system like Iron Dome than tons of cheap little rockets or mortar shells.

But it obviously depends on the tracking system as well.

A missile is only as good as its tracking systems!

OK

@Hyperion

Don't you think that we should/can deliver a few batteries of HATF IX to Hamas so we can really test the system ???

.
you pray that iron dome is effective and not too expensive in the long run.

Otherwise Israel will drive Gazans out to Sinai.

and make Gaza strip as a buffer zone.

It didn't say that it failed to intercept rest of the two rockets.

Iron dome engages only those projectiles which are to hit populated area and cause destruction , rockets falling on empty lands are just not engaged by it.
