Unidentified gunmen have shot and wounded Pakistan's religious affairs minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi during a drive-by attack in Islamabad.

The shooting took place close to the politician's office in the capital city.
"Gunmen sprayed bullets on the minister's car," said a police officer, who identified himself as Qasim.
Islamabad doctor Masood Pasha said Mr Kazmi suffered a gunshot wound to a leg but was in stable condition.
The shooting was another reminder of the precarious security situation in the nuclear-armed country.
It took place as security agencies in the capital were on high alert.
Mr Kazmi's guard was also wounded in the attack, said Dr Pasha. Police officer Muntizar Hassan said the driver of the vehicle was killed on the spot.
TV images showed several bullet holes in vehicle, which crashed into a tree. Blood stains were visible on the seats.
