KARACHI: GlaxoSmith Kline (GSK) on Friday announced its commitment to enhance investment in consumer healthcare brands over the next five years in Pakistan.
The company would herald new job opportunities in the country and the investment volume would substantial via introduction of new brands in its wellness, oral health and nutrition portfolios, said John Sayers President of GSK Consumer Health for Asia, Pacific Latin America and Middle East at a press conference.
GSK sees Pakistan as an emerging market on which there will be extensive focus in the coming years, he assured GSK has identified emerging markets such as Pakistan as future growth drivers for the company.
Pakistan offers a diverse population pool having significant growth potential and is strongly registered on our consumer healthcare priority as we believe the country will be one of the future growth market not only for the ME region but also for the global business, he added.
Sayers claimed his ambitions for the country would be accomplished from investments in GSK in consumer healthcares key growth categories including Wellness, oral health and nutrition. Company always introduced brands which are source of benefit to consumers and in this vein the company is focusing on its Sensodyne range with a view to offer relief to sensitivity sufferers in Pakistan.
He said GSK healthcare was already at the forefront of the battle to abate aches and pains on an everyday basis through Panadol range of analgesics, as we would continue to be so with new initiatives in future as well.
He claimed nutrition, a highly underdeveloped category with a local per capita consumption of only 7 grams of nutritional supplements per annum, was another priority for the firm to be investing heavily via famous Horlicks range of nutritional supplements.
He said company had already commenced new investments with the 2011 launch in oral health and nutrition categories and this investment would get momentum in the future to bring more products of value to the customers.
Ambati Venu Vice President and the General Manager for the Middle East said potential of business was immense in Pakistan with huge growth opportunities.
Pakistan is going to be highly growth market for overall business as investment in healthcare consumer is required on larger scale, which may yield fruitful results for the company in future.
Sohail Matin, General Manager for Pakistan said GSK has long standing presence of nearly 60 years in the country and it was the consumer healthcare business ambition to become the first and best fast moving consumer healthcare company not only in Pakistan but also globally.
