Should have been preserved, apparently the Viraat will be but the Vikrant actively played a part in India's most glorious military endeavour and shouldn't have been allowed to meet such a pathetic end.

The number of statues to people that come up in India and there wasn't enough money to spend on preserving one of India's most dutiful servants? A poor show.

well it was kept as a museum for 18 years,i think it was becoming harder to maintain such big ship which required lots of manpower and funds.
