Germany and Japan. Are they still occupied today?

After the end of the second world war the United States and Soviet Union invaded Germany and the United States invaded Japan. They occupied these two countries for a long time as far as I know. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, it withdrew from Germany and eastern Europe but the United States remained in both Germany and Japan. Both these countries were given their constitutions made by the Americans and were forbidden to keep their own military forces. What is the situation now? Are they still occupied by the Americans and have to follow American given constitution and not allowed to keep large military forces of their own? Or are they almost free to decide whatever is good for their countries militarily and otherwise and could rise as superpowers again? Are they proud of their history or ashamed of it? I think if they are independent they can again rise as strong superpowers as they were during world war two. What you say?

I do not know much about Germany...

but i think Japan was simply unstoppable during world war 2....
China was completely helpless in-front of Japan during the war
They captured Important parts of china & Indo-china region colonial by the British...They easily captured so claimed unbeatable fort of British Singapore.........The British had send the then so called best navy ships to defend Singapore & Japan completely destroyed the navy ships easily within a day or 2....
& so called british dominance on sea ended forever.......

The Subash Chandra Bose was planning of invade India with the help of japan & some Indian.... They captured the north eastern states easily...
Then ATOM BOMBS WERE DROPPED .....Japan surrounded unconditionally.....


The question of Japan & Germany was genuine ...If UK & France being itself Imperial cannot stop them from being Imperial.....

Aftereffect of world war II:weaking of UK...many parts of the world got independence...
Strong UK ,due to self interest, may have never given us independence
as they were not even think of giving Independence during 1939 when they were strong

Japan and Germany are not occupied in any sense today. The US and NATO forces that are present are there so that both may get a "free" security ride on the back of the USA. When/if either decides to pay for their own security, they will ask the USA forces to leave. As long as the USA is stupid enough to provide them their security, they have no need to burden their own taxpayers with the effort.
