They should have observed the black day on this sharqat day, as they were fighting as a slave for their masters.

Provide one source here to back ur claim. Yes they literally harassed the mughals and other muslim rulers in battles but even after winning the battles they never went on to harass the civilians or PoW's.
So yeah, they are heroes.

Don't bother trying to explain that to him. Islamists have no concept of honor of chivalry.

Maratha were far right religious and hated mughals. Muslims who hated mughals like Suris might have helped maratha. Similarly many Hindus supported mughals too.
Anyway its not digestible to think that at that age people treated POWs gently.
Maraha destroyed even Hindus temple who supported south Muslim rulers. So they weren't any secular.

The MArathas fought against all Central Asian invaders, most of whom happened to be Muslim. They were one of the Only Indian Empires to defeat the Afghans. They also fought against Hindu kings who sided with the invaders, which included some Rajput tribes. Overall, they were Indian nationalists who cleared almost the entirety of the subcontinent from the Central Asian and Turkik empires, and would have remained in power if it were not for the British. Still, they defeated both the British and the Portuguese. It took the British three attempts to fully defeat the Marathas.

Ofc its difficult for u to understand. there is no proof that any native indian ruler ever ransacked the civilians whereas there is so much writings depicting the same against islamic rulers and even europeans.
Like the famous tale written by Malik mohammed jayasi, Padmavat. Even if u take it as a tale and not as fact, u can read about khilji's deeds. writings just the depict the behaviour that is prevalent in society.
Whereas take out any of hindu scriptures or the ones by original settlers of this land, even ramayana and Mahabharat, they are riddled with phrases like never attack those who are weak, never attack a disarmed combatant and the likes.
These rules are basically the reason why ghori was able to enter India, Prithvi Raj Chauhan had defeated him in first battle of tarain in 1191 and let him return back to his land.

I think they didn't get chance to go outside... power like mongols ransacked civilisation even Mughals didn't.. mughlas might destroyed some native buildings so did Maratha... mughlas had mixed army so did others.. Khilji was a saviour.. not a ill mannered savage homo as shown by the movie

Mauryans, sikhs and cholas did go outside the traditional indian boundaries. Neither ransacked the cities or pillaged or razed down the places of worship.
