This headline has so far not been in any news paper. I am writing to warn that this headline will be in News papers if something is not done to stop it.
The causing factor of this headline and the suicides had a head start in India and now we hear of mass farmer suicides in India.
for proof look at this

1,500 farmers commit mass suicide in India - World news, News - Belfasttelegraph.co.uk

a thread one defence.pk also has some news on this

http://www.defence.pk/forums/econom...agriculture-cotton-textiles-news-updates.html

Or go on Google and type massive suicide India
I am writing about the introduction of Monsanto products in Pakistan.

For more info visit the following link Business Recorder [Pakistan's First Financial Daily]

I am not going to indulge much in introductions so I will get right into it. Monsanto is set to introduce its products Pakistan, this will have a catastrophic effect on all aspects of Pakistan, because this has o potential to bring an end to Pakistan. Most plants Monsanto plants do not produce seeds, but the plants that do produce seeds have had their seeds patented, this will hurt farmers because the seeds are patented which means they cannot be used without Monsanto's permission. Monsanto plants are also not suitable for Pakistani climate which further jeopardizes the results of whether the crop will turn out to be good or bad.

Monsanto products need large amounts of fertilizers and pesticides. The pesticides and fertilizers used in these products are also Monsanto products, which cause wide spread devastation. Monsanto seeds genetically engineered to be resistant to pesticides, which means their pesticides will kill all except for the plants from Monsanto plants. Resulting in further troubles for a Farmer which experience trouble or has a bad crop turnout. Monsanto pesticides are not biodegradable, which means they will be around for thousands of years all the while killing our soil. After a few years of use of Monsanto products the green Punjab and the Kashmir and other green areas of Pakistan will turn into deserts.

The only crops that will temporarily flourish will be the ones in areas of heavy irrigation, the poisonous pesticides that will be leaching into our rivers starting from the farms from the northern areas like Kashmir will continue to add up with pesticides from southern Pakistan. Now remember Pakistan has the world's largest irrigation system and network of rivers, and the majority of our farms are set up around rivers.

In our rivers they will continue to kill but weeds will not be the only target of the deadly chemicals. Pakistan's fish will start dying, so will our dolphins. Birds that feed on these fish will either die or leave Pakistan. They will kill reefs in surrounding shore lines of Pakistan. These reefs are the home and habitat of our fish in the sea which will also disappear. The mangroves which protect Pakistan from storms and other natural disasters will die off. Taking with them more habitat belonging to other species we rely on. The water in our taps will become poisonous, killing millions. In short Monsanto products will be worse than a nuclear strike on Pakistan.

This is not and India vs Pakistan issue this is a World vs genetic engineering. Genetic engineering has provided benefits but things go very bad really fast, because this is not natural. God wasn't running out of supplies when the natural process of food production was made, the are the way they are for a reason.

I will soon post a reply on this thread for a number of solutions I have in mind, in the mean time please post your views, and any additional information you find.

PS excuse any mistakes in the article I have written as I was in a hurry.

Pakistan does not allow GMO crops and this monsanto saga is largely rumore / conspiracy / controvery. Agriculture in Pakistan is much different than India. Farmers are not individual here but rather subject of fedual land lords. In worst case scenerio we would see mass sucide of these corrupt landlords which should be a welcome development as any government has failed to tackle this menance.

Mosanto operates 9 different offices (without signs or boards of company name - contact head office here) in Pakistan for its chemical products and BT cotton has been smuggled privately for years.

CAF (Corporate Agriculture Farming) rules liberalized in 2002. MNC sponsored Seed (Amendment) Bill 2010 has passed the NA but is pending approval in Senate. It will liberalize seed production further.

The debate over GMOs is marked by emotions and little rational. I personally vehemently oppose their introduction here, for purely ideological reasons.
