At least four labourers were gunned down in Gawash area of Kharan District on Wednesday morning.
Unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire on the labourers while they were working on Kharan-Mach Highway, a Kharan police official said.
“The labourers were working on a CPEC-route road when they were targeted,” sources in Kharan said. The labourers died on on the spot.
The deceased were shifted to District Headquarters hospital where they were identified as Surab Khan, Niazi, Sajan and Ghulam Mustafa. The deceased reportedly belonged to Ghotki area of Sindh.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack as yet.
Earlier in February, at least three personnel, including a Pakistan Army captain, were killed as a roadside bomb exploded near a security vehicle patrolling in Balochistan’s Awaran district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
“An IED exploded on army convoy in Awaran, Balochistan. Three soldiers including Captain Taha embraced shahadat,” the military’s media wing said in a statement. “Two soldiers got injured. Shaheed include Sepoy Kamran Satti and Sepoy Mehtar Jan.”
Political leadership of Balochistan has time and again blamed ‘external forces’ for fomenting unrest in the province to achieve their ‘ulterior motives’.
Last year in August, the suicide attack on Quetta’s Civil Hospital claimed at least 74 people, most of them lawyers.
