Finding roots, How?

Bismillah
Do any of you descents of Turkish or Arab, came to south asia during islamic time? If so do you know how to find the roots? We know that sure South Asia is full of them and their mix. Now the indian guy as usual making jokes. My family came from Arabia and Turkey that is for sure. But we may find people related in south asia or turko land which extents from turkey to middle asia and other part through out middle east. I just want to find the specific place.
