QUETTA: Balochistan government has given police power for one month to Frontier Corps (FC). Sources said the police power has been granted to FC owing to deteriorating law and order in the province.
According to the notification issued here, the FC will enjoy police power till November 16.
Meanwhile, a grenade attack targeting a convoy of the Balochistan Constabulary injured 19 people in the Hazarganji area of Quetta on Tuesday.
A vehicle belonging to the Balochistan Constabulary was traveling on Mastung Road in Quetta when unknown motorcyclists hurled a hand grenade at it.
The wounded included five constabulary personnel, three children and 11 others present in the vicinity. The victims were taken to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and Civil Hospital for treatment. The condition of those injured was stated out of danger by hospital sources.
Security forces reached the attack site and cordoned off the area. Earlier, on September 19, at least 10 people, including a child and a woman, were injured in a grenade attack at Balochistan Constabulary Line in Quetta. Among the injured was a Balochistan Constabulary operative and a levies officer.
