FBR to fire 400 customs employees up to BS-16; 50 between BS-17 and BS-20
Reported by: `M. Faizan March 2, 2015
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to terminate 400 employees of BS-1 to BS-16 and 50 employees of BS-17 to BS-20 over corruption charges.
A committee of three board members has been formed which will give its final decision after observing the names and corruption evidences sent by Model of Customs Collectorates MCCs and Regional Tax Offices RTOs of the country.
According to reliable sources in the FBR, all the MCCs and RTOs have accepted the decision and all the collectors and chief commissioners have started preparing lists of corrupt officials.
The MCC Islamabad has taken a stand against the FBR order. MCC Islamabad Collector Zeba Hai Azhar has made it clear to the authorities concerned that she will not prepare any list, and that if any official is found involved in corruption than strict departmental action will be taken against him.
Officers of BS-17 to BS-20 will be terminated in different phases after the decision of the committee based on evidences, so that they cannot appeal against the decision in courts. Same will be the case for officers of BS-1 to BS-16. Inquiries against various officials are already pending with the administration member.
