ETIM plans attack on Chinese: Report

RAWALPINDI, Sept 20: Acting on an intelligence report that some people suspected to be belonging to the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (Etim) group are planning to target Chinese restaurants in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore, authorities have directed law-enforcement agencies to take appropriate measures to avert any untoward incident, it is learnt.

Sources quoting the intelligence report said that a suspected member of Etim, Abdul Raheem, might target a ceremony to be held on the national day of People’s Republic of China on Oct 1.

They said that law-enforcement agencies had been asked to take all measures for the security of Chinese nationals. They have been particularly asked to beef up security around a famous Chinese restaurant on the Margallah Road in Islamabad as the place had been mentioned by the intelligence report as the possible target of a terrorist attack.

According to a senior official, security for foreign nationals — especially the Chinese working in the country on various projects — had already been increased. He said they were being provided security cover during their inter-city movements.

They are terrorists, and they have committed numerous terrorist attacks against innocent people in Xinjiang. Any ETIM member who gets caught will be executed.

'Chinese' restaurants are usually owned and manned by people other than the Chinese!! Those restaurants probably are owned and run by Pakistanis themselves! They just serve Chinese food. Maybe an odd cook from China. So WTF are they going to achieve by bombing it? Only more Pakistanis would get killed! And the Chinese will have the last laugh!

They have training camps and supporters in the Af-Pak border region, supported by other extremist groups that live there.

So we use our influence with Pakistan's government to help crack down on those, with some success so far.
