Future Typhoon (Image: Eurofighter)

An 'enhanced' Eurofighter Typhoon would form a core part of any European future combat air system (FCAS), Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH CEO, Volker Paltzo said at the Farnborough Air Show today.

Speaking during Farnborough International Air Show on Tuesday, Volker Paltzo said, “Eurofighter will be a central pillar of any European FCAS, and has a key role to play in this future system, operating alongside any existing or new European assets that may come into play in the future battlespace – across all mission scenarios.

According to Paltzo, there is a need for greater connectivity, sensor and data fusion in the future battlespace would see a refresh of technology in the cockpit, including a high resolution large area display, and up to 15% more power to the aircraft’s EJ-200 engines, as part of the aircraft’s long term evolution plans.

“We are in ongoing dialogue with our partners regarding these emerging requirements”, he stated.

Clemens Linden, Eurojet TURBO GmbH CEO, speaking on behalf of the Eurofighter engine consortium during Farnborough International Air Show, said that the Eurofighter can make its EJ-200 engine still better and deliver a 15 percent increase in thrust.

. . .
Not a big fan. Typhoon and Su-35 are old design. No internal weapons bays. Russia is introducing Su-57 next year. Germany needs a completely new design to stay on par.

Well, lets have GmbH pay for the damn upgrade for a change.... honestly.. Happy to get the industrial knowledge and workshare, but refuse to buy any aircraft or pay their way properly. So happy we in the UK wont be involved with the GmbH folks for much longer ....

UK itself is a buyer of US technology, had UK technology been so state-of-the-art you would be exporting it rather than importing.

That is why there are U.K. designed major components in the F-35.
Continue to make self-goals. You produce enough footballs to allow practicing.
Don’t let it bother You that they are designed elsewhere.

Designing aint good enough, you have to make it inhouse to create jobs. Jobs i am sure you know are created on the assembly lines. You are already on notice by companies like Airbus and BMW. Last of the remaining high tech companies are bidding farewell to your island and relocating to mainland Europe. time is not on your side unless you start re-colonizing the world again.

You have not realized that the F-35 is built all over the world, including the U.K.
The well paying jobs are not in manufacturing, they are in design.
Keep on manufacture footballs, designed elsewhere, if You can hold on to such a job.
You are not smart enough to see the difference between a Swedish flag and the Union flag.

Did I mention well paying jobs? I was talking of job creation, more jobs even if less paid are still better than well paid jobs, and by the way UK will be manufacturing a merry 12% of the plane rest of 88% will go to usa

Basically every country buying the F-35 will produce parts for all F-35s.
There will be more than 4000 produced, so if the U.K. can produce 12% of the 4000 planes they will be doing a marvellous job. The US will not produce 88%, they will produce less than half.
And no, more low paying jobs are bad. That is why people try to automate them away.
Less well paid workers pay less tax.

There will be more than 4000 produced

Doubt it. Most likely no more than a couple hundred, not enough to replace F-16. Only 187 F-22 were ever built, not enough to replace F-15. No more than 100 Su-57 will be built, not enough to replace Su-27. Heck, Rafale and Typhoon were never built in sufficient numbers to replace Mirage 2000 and Tornado like intended.
