The History of India: Every Year

Ollie Bye

16 May 2016

This video will show the entire history of India from 29th century BCE to 2016. Due to their extreme timescales, the Indus Valley and Vedic periods cannot be shown every year, although every year is shown from 413 BCE.

A note on Kashmir: To maintain neutrality, I've simply shown the lines of actual control. Neither the Indian nor Pakistani claims are recognised outside the area they administer.

Numbered Kingdoms:
1. Western Coastal Plains States
2. Pundravardhana
3. Vangala
4. Khandesh Sultanate
5. Bidar
6. Gingee
7. Tanjore
8. Gingee (Maratha last-stand)
9. Madurai
10. Nawab of Bahawalpur

So Maurya empire was the largest which conquered the most land

So Maurya empire was the largest which conquered the most land

The Ummayads, (early) Abbasids, British and Portugese all had larger empires. But yes, if we're strictly referring to dynasties from the Indian sub-continent (rather than including those that also subjugated it), then the Mauryans were the largest.

Abbasids was mostly restricted to the middle east. British empire was the largest of all time but yeah, I was referring to the Indian sub-continent and Mauryan empire was the largest

and Mauryan empire was the largest

True, but largest doesn't necessarily equal the best. The region was probably at it's peak in terms of wealth during the reign of the Mughals, and in terms of general development, I don't think anyone can trump the Mysoreans (during the reign of Tipu, the average Mysorean was multiple times more wealthy than the average Londoner).

As for military calibre, I would say that the best contenders would be the Mauryans, Mughals and Khalsa.

This video completely dispels the 1000 years Muslim rule in India myth which Pakistanis like to peddle.

That's why perhaps no Pakistanis are taking interest in this bit of reality. It shows that only the region of Pakistan was under Muslim rule for 800 to 1000 years. Whereas, Muslims dominance over larger parts of India, mainland India and the modern republic of India was established sometime in the 1200s and it ended in the 1700s with the dominance of the Hindu Marathas and the Sikhs. So in reality the period of Muslim dominance in the sub-continent was around 500 to 600 years.

Muslims were the dominant force in India for centuries.

The british freakin united us, and we always curse them for dividing india between 2 nations. Lol

.
so, can anyone point to where the country "India" was in those videos?

Indians like to propel the myth that India was always a country, but these videos prove beyond a doubt that India was never a country. It was more like Europe, some empires were larger then others but no one in the subcontinent considered themselves as "Indian" until 1947

What are you trying to suggest. I say exactly this in my post. Muslims were the dominant force in India for 5 to 6 centuries. Not 1000 years like some Pakistanis like to suggest.
