ECP notifies suspension of 231 parliamentarians

ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 (APP): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended the memebership of following 231 lawmakers, who failed to submit their statements of accounts by October 15. According to a notification issued by ECP Secretary Ishtiak Ahmed Khan, the membership of legislators will remain suspended until submission of statement of accounts. The membership of 13 senators, including Syed Javed Ali Shah, Muhammad Ali Durrani, Naeem Hussain Chattha, Pervaiz Rashid, Abdul Ghaffar Qureshi, Dr Asim Hussain, Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, A Rehman Malik, Moulana Gul Naseeb Khan, Haji Ghulam Ali, Rahmatullah Kakar, Advocate, Engr Muhammad Hamayun Khan and Abdul Raziq was suspended.

Rehman Malik and Defence minister are also among the suspended, so how can they be ministers of they are not parliamentarians? Saw a discussion on this yesterday night, and former Chief of ECP said that it is not possible to be a minister without being a MNA.

2/3 of cabinet members are chose from National Assembly and 1/3 from Senate.

But yesterday, on the TV show, the former ECP official clearly stated that both these are not eligible for ministry.

He was out of his mind then because this selection procedure is written down in Constitution.
