A meeting of the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec) is likely to approve Rs 165 billion Lahore Orange Metro Train Project on Wednesday (today). Sources said that the Ecnec meeting to be chaired by Finance Minister is expected to consider and approve around Rs 181 billion projects.
They said that Rs 165 billion Lahore Orange Metro Train project was recommended to the Ecnec by the Central Working Development Party (CDWP) for final approval. The project recommended by the CDWP is designed for construction of 27.1 Km long signal free corridor for train mass transit system in Lahore.
The Ecnec is also expected to approve construction of 4-lane-bridge across river Indus linking Layyah with Taunsa worth Rs 6.976 billion. The project was approved by the CDWP with the condition that two third of its financing would be picked up by the provincial government of Sindh. Larkana Development Package for infrastructure projects of Rs 8.11 billion would also be considered by the Ecnec meeting. The Ecnec is also likely to take up Rs 2.247 billion construction of fall structure on Nara Canal, re-sectioning of Ranto Canal and strengthening of NIP of Jamrao Canal
