Donald Trump’s former butler has drawn the attention of the US secret service for online threats he has made against Barack Obama.

Anthony Senecal, who served the presumptive Republican nominee at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, has a Facebook page filled with incendiary comments. Many of the posts, which were first reported by Mother Jones, are directed at the president and his family.

In one message, from September 2015, Senecal said the military should hang Obama for treason and other “high crimes”. In another that month, he used a slur for a member of the Muslim faith against Obama, who is a Christian. In the same post, he wrote that he does not speak for Trump: “This is my opinion, only!!!!”

Senecal declined to accept a reporter’s call to the antiques dealer where he works in West Palm Beach, Florida, but told Mother Jones he wrote the posts.

Trump’s campaign, which has been criticised over how it has reacted to the racist comments of some supporters, condemned the posts.

“Tony Senecal has not worked at Mar-a-Lago for years, but nevertheless we totally and completely disavow the horrible statements made by him regarding the president and first family,” the spokeswoman Hope Hicks said in a statement.

A recent profile of Senecal in the New York Times reported that after he tried to retire in 2009, Trump kept him on as an unofficial historian at Mar-a-Lago.

The secret service said on Thursday it was “aware of this matter and will conduct the appropriate investigation”. Such an investigation routinely involves a face-to-face interview with someone thought to have made threats against the president or another protected official.

The Secret Service has confirmed it will investigate comments made by Donald Trump’s longtime butler calling for President Obama to be killed.

“The US Secret Service is aware of this matter and will conduct the appropriate investigation,” agency spokesman Robert Hoback said in a statement.

Anthony Senecal, who worked as a butler to the presumptive GOP presidential nominee for 17 years, until 2009, wrote in a recent Facebook post that Mr Obama should be shot by the military as an “enemy agent.”

“To all my friends on FB, just a short note to you on our pus headed “president” !!!! This character who I refer to as zero (0) should have been taken out by our military and shot as an enemy agent in his first term !!!!!“ Mr Senecal said in a Facebook post,according to Mother Jones magazine.

“Instead he still remains in office doing every thing he can to gut the America we all know and love !!!!!”

The magazine said that Mr Senecal, 84, who now works as the in-house historian at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, has made multiple Facebook posts calling for Mr Obama’s death. Mr Senecal confirmed to Mother Jones that he had written the posts.

Last April, he wrote that the president should be hanged.

“Looks like that sleezey b**tard zero (O) is trying to out maneuvre Congress again, if the truth be known this prick needs to be hung for treason!!!” he said.

Like Mr Trump, Mr Senecal also argued that Mr Obama is not a United States citizen and is ineligible to serve as president.

Mr Senecal told The New York Times in a wide-ranging interviewpublished in March that he worked as Mr Trump's butler for nearly 30 years. He has served as an unofficial historian at the estate since 2009, when he was relieved of his butler duties after Trump rejected his request to retire.

The article detailed Mr Senecal's intimate knowledge of everything from Trump's steak order to his sleep schedule, but gave no hints as to his political leanings.

The newspaper said that Mr Senecal claimed Mr Trump told him: “Tony, to retire is to expire. I’ll see you next season.”

That's totally inaccurate. The white segment which supports Trump predominately consists of ignorant racist rednecks. They hate everything. From black African Americans, to Latino's and Muslims. What more proof do you need when the KKK goes on record to support Donald Trump? Besides, the whole world knows what goes on at Trump rallies.

Also, Trump doesn't have the support of Latino, African American and other minority groups except a few exceptions such as nationalistic Hindu groups residing in the US.

That's just a myth. Trump is a guy who has said things such as banning Muslims from entering the US, building a wall to keep out the Mexicans etc. cannot just change his stance overnight. If he does, he is as untrustworthy as the opponents he accuses of backpedaling on many issues. If anything his ratings will go down because his hateful voters aren't going to tolerate him backpedaling on the Muslim and Mexican promise. This is the reason why they are attracted to his rhetoric in the first place.
