Sanctions work when the govt really cares about the people cos sanctions hurt common man the most. But if the govt does not care about the people then sanctions mean nothing to them. Best example is North Korea, they are the most sanctioned country in the world with abysmal foreign trade and dirt poor economy, they had large scale famines recently up till 2009. But does Kim Jong Un care...??? Hell no..!!!
He can and he will sacrifice the last North Korean for sake of maintaining his reign over that country.

They didnt work in case of Iran either now the country is more united against foreign aggressor the sanctions are uniting the people and making them tolerate this aggression from an imperial power

I did not say anything about dictatorships of which there is no shortage. I mean Saudia, UAE, Syria and fair few other countries are hardly rip roaring liberal democracies. What I said was NK is cleaner, people are better fed, better educated, better clothed, have better healthcare etc then any South Asian country.

Yeh of course. Guy travels to NK along the entire country in the train and then walks around Pyoungyang. Millions of the starved, rickshaw pullers, street shitters, beggers etc have been hidden away from the guy's travels. Dunno about anything but NK must have launched a massive operation when they found out this dude was visiting. Then they got clones to walk around as regular people. Yeh of course .... !

Not really...Pakistan worked around them, Libya did (until bombed to stone age), so did NK and many others.

There are cases of many countries backing down from acquiring nukes because of threat of sanction but oh well, gotta have some poodles among the lions, the dogs, the hyenas and the cow.

Well, sanctions teach you to be independent and self-sufficient. Some countries who believe they will be next or in future should do a mock sanction. Get real-world results of who will get hurt and what products they depend on. so then they can work on being self-sufficiency/independent.
