UK is a technologically advanced country and has its value and place in global realities.

How can Pakistan develop a beneficial bilateral relationship with UK?

Discuss.

Right now - Pakistan is economically too small to be important enough for the UK to focus any diplomatic time on in determining avenues of collaboration for further integration or collaboration. That is the cold reality of it - not once is Pakistan here in the UK spoken of in good terms, ever. India gets a lot of time, and most of it positive ( except for Modi as an individual, and RSS ideology which people are becoming more aware of, due to RSS antics in Leicester recently ). Pakistan here in the UK, simply does not register anywhere.

Pakistan is also perpetually on IMF life support and that does not do "its brand" any favour in the corridors of investment community or power. Pakistan has no rule of law, it has the rule of the jungle, it is not a liberal democracy, and has poor levels of education of it's population. It also has no natural resources that makes it timeworthy to ignore the items i have mentioned. Pakistan's poor gender equality, education of females and its perpetual dance with extremism gives off such a stink that no UK politican wants to touch ...

So there is significant institutional resistence to wanting to spend any 'time' on a basis return of investment equation. The UK is very much minded on protection of it assets and return of investment of it's assets.

What does Pakistan actually offer to the UK that the UK wants, needs, desires for, or has long term value ??

To top it off, there is the whole Afghanistan debacle from Pakistan, that will take along time for the UK establishment to forget.

Pakistans problem is its global reputation.

Thanks for your input.

Pakistan can develop a more beneficial relationship with all countries not just the UK by having a bigger economy.

If Pakistan can become a trillion dollar economy in nominal terms, it will be hard for countries to ignore Pakistan.

why cant the greedy elites just allow pak to become at-least a manufacturer country instead of beggar country.

China is not democractic - but it is successful.

Why :
a) rule of law b) stability c) good education of its population. d) good infrastructure. e) good diplomatic infrastructure f) no issues over gender equality, or extreism. The stink is low when thinking of China.

China of course has its own PR issues that have come about recently driven by more geostrategic concerns over being top dog or not, but alot of things can, and are over looked if the basics are there. In Pakistan, there are no basics.

The rule of law is so important, especially when you are thinking of investing.

i know this is why pak needs to emulate china.

I used to know a couple of Pakistani origin physicians in the US and one of them was very good and the other not half bad. UK does have a shortage of doctors. So why can't Pakistan create a 4 or 5 year exportabe medicine graduate program ? the syllabi, the teaching methods and graduation criteria should all be done jointly by a Pak UK board which would help reduce the amount of acclamitazation and acceptace certification period in the UK.

More than UK, this will help Pakistanio youth who at the moment have very little to look forward to. Just making more and more janitors and carpenters, while nothing derogatory about those professions, is not something that can revamp Pakistan

Pakistan can't educate its masses. The few that are educated leave immediately.

Pakistan doesn't need to look far. Get as much assistance from China as possible. Unfortunately Pakistan is stuck with elitists like army generals and others who don't look after the country, but only themselves.

UK, US and the likes have no interest in helping countries like Pakistan. Pakistan will always be a tissue paper to these countries.

Unfortunately no one is interested in a feudal and military cabal alliance, which is enriching itself rather than the people.
As a result Pakistan’s economy is a pittance in regards to its population (253 million people). The masses remain uneducated, the ambitious leave, there are energy and infrastructure problems, the economy haven’t gone beyond simple goods aside a few sectors.
Would you be interested in trade/relationship with all this going on?

I would not know enough about UK to answer the question. I have not visited UK in a long time.
Isn't UK in a state of terminal decline ? Does that even matter to the original question ?

Chances are that you will emulate the negatives and ignore the positives getting the worst of both worlds

Pakistan must seek independent ties with England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. The declining Kingdom is of little value for the Central Asian country.
