Difference b/t banned and suspension

Hi,

I tried posting this question on Forum information but due to lack of privileges I can't post.

I see some people even after getting banned are coming back than what is the use of word 'Ban' why not suspend that fellow?

I am writing since I like following post of some people and when they get banned I feel like everything is over but like after a week I see them back again so better suspend and why ban?

Well, im sorry to say but Mods dont follow the standard procedures in several of the cases...

1. I have never seen any one getting infractions... Why?

2. No. One is warned prior to Suspension/Ban .. Why?

3. No reason.. Or a very brief..unclear reason is given for Ban/Suspension.. Why?

4. When banned no email / PM is sent by the Mod/Admin Banning the member...

Really Its a a must to let the member clear his position...and contact the Mod Banning him..but its not the case.. Why?

5. WHy are Rules applied selectively?

Threads are deleted but many others with same nature remain...

Why?

I AM MYSELF.. AN ADMIN AT VB 4 N 3.8 BASED FORUMS... I am fully aware that how large forums can n should be be Managed.

THESE ARE MUST HAVE PROCEDURES.. BUT THE NATURE OF THIS FORUM IS PERHAPS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LAPSE.

i think xinix sir rightly pointed out the procedure before banning any member....well following the strict moderation rules is depend on moderators.

Well i really dont Think so.

Indians are More coz More Indians have Net Access than Pakistani's ( Thanks to the really cheap Net Access ) and They are also larger in No. ( Credit to the Huge Population ) ; And their inner feel of patriotism drives them here.

Since Strict moderation Rules apply to both Indians and Pakistani Members and since both make "fun" equallly u will see both getting affected, unless u restrict the "Strict Rules" to a a particular nationality.

Add to it that strict moderation rules dont mean u can stop an Indian user from signing up ( Which Only APPLIES when the user POSTS Something ) till u ban Indians by IP all together, hence the numbers will keep on increasing, WHICH IS IN THE FAVOR OF THE COMMUNITY ( If Indians Vanish The Debates will loose their Lusture )

I strongly believe that STRICT RULES MUST E FOLLOWED.. but FOR EVERY ONE. But Its upon Mods to do so.

SIMPLE ones Like Warning a member for Suspension and Letting the user Contact the Admin/Mod u suspended/Banned him is Not a Bad Idea.

If there weren't any Indians, this would be a boring forum as there wouldn't be an alternative POV.

That's why I spend way more time here than ***- there aren't many Pakistanis, Bangladeshis or Chinese there!!!!!

Ban's are permanent (or long term) and Suspensions are used for a brief time out.

Because its not necessary. We're not here to reform anybody, just discuss difficult issues with civility. If you're deemed unfit by the management staff, you'll be let go.

The reason is for the banned person and for our records. Nobody else needs to be concerned with why someone was banned.

We ban more than 50 people a day. The fact that we're banning them means they are unwanted here and no more effort may be expended upon them.

Not really, there is no excuse good enough of why you did this n that after the fact.

Irrelevant here, we run the forum very differently than most other forums. We make a commitment to free speech and equality of our members. We draw the line when the quality of our forum is going to get a hit.

We're an international forum, not a Pakistani forum. This forum's subject-matter is only Pakistan-centric and we ensure we keep it that way.

All members are treated with equality.

Literally thousands of members have been here since forever and have managed not to get banned. Some introspection is needed here by those who are complaining against the norms here.
