World's leading submarine manufacturer DCNS may look at long term ties with Walchandnagar Industries.
One of the largest ship builders in the world DCNS France, who are and assisting India in building world class "Scorpene" submarines for Indian Navy said today that there was all possibility to extend its ties with Walchandnagar Industries for supplying certain critical components for its international submarine projects . This was announced by Patrick Boissier Chairman DCNS who was speaking after the unveiling of the "Vinod Doshi Technology Center" and the statue of Vinod .l.Doshi, Former Chairman Emeritus of Walchandnagar Industries Ltd at the hands Padma Vibhushan Dr.Anil Kakodkar, Former Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission of India and Secretary to Dept of Atomic Energy Govt of India at Walchandnagar today.
Pune, Maharashtra, March 30, 2010 /India PRwire/ -- Pune , March 30 : One of the largest ship builders in the world DCNS France, who are and assisting India in building world class "Scorpene" submarines for Indian Navy said today that there was all possibility to extend its ties with Walchandnagar Industries for supplying certain critical components for its international submarine projects .
This was announced by Patrick Boissier Chairman DCNS who was speaking after the unveiling of the "Vinod Doshi Technology Center" and the statue of Vinod .l.Doshi, Former Chairman Emeritus of Walchandnagar Industries Ltd at the hands Padma Vibhushan Dr.Anil Kakodkar, Former Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission of India and Secretary to Dept of Atomic Energy Govt of India at Walchandnagar today.
Mr. Boissier Chairman DCNS , Said that the company which was Europe's leading company in , ship building , off shore patrol vessels and Submarine manufacturing and valued at Euros 2.5 billion had signed an MOU with WIL last year manufacturing of critical technical parts for Scorpene" submarines for the Indian Navy. The 6 diesel operated Scorpenes are being manufactured in India at Mazgaon.
Walchandnagar Industries was identified for the project after we scouted for strategic partners and we were convinced that they would provide us the with High level technology for critical manufacturing components, he added
"Talking about our future plans is premature , but it is possible in the long term to work with Walchandnagar Industry for world markets after our project in India is completed as we have a 30 % market share in Submarine manufacturing ", he added
Speaking after unveiling the statue of Seth Vinod.L.Doshi, Former Chairman Emeritus of Walchandnagar Industries Ltd, Dr.Anil Kakodkar, Former Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission of India and Secretary to Dept Of Atomic Energy Govt Of India said that it was the vision of Vinod Doshi and his tenure which was responsible for Walchandnagar's foray in to many High Tech sectors catering to the Aerospace, Nuclear& Defense requirement of India.
Mr. Kakodkar said that the Energy requirement of the country was growing day and we need to make optimum use Hydro and Nuclear energy. India has indigenous technology to manufacture fast nuclear reactors and we should now work to meet our energy supply demands through nuclear energy.
Speaking on the issue of the nuclear liability bill, he said that the business of setting up nuclear reactor business is handled by private sector in the USA, but in France and Russia it is handled by the government agency we have also always worked on programmes indigenously.
It is important for us to follow the set regulations followed by Nuclear Power manufacturing countries except in Pakistan for fixing responsibility in case of any unfortunate accidents during the nuclear programme and this should be done at the earliest.
Mr. Kakodkar said that due diligence was been taken by all concerned to avoid mishaps and nuclear mishaps were negligible, Citing the Chernobyl reactors mishap, he said that the minimum people were affected and those who were affected were the ones who went to clean the nuclear waste, the accident was minimal in comparison to the Union Carbide leak in Bhopal which left hundreds dead and thousands maimed for life.
