China's best ever tennis player, but husband's snoring nearly blew it

She has become the most successful Chinese tennis player of all time.

But Li Na, who has reached the final of the Australian Open, today revealed that her dream was almost derailed by her husband's snoring.

Li stunned the tennis world, becoming the first Chinese player to reach a grand slam singles final, after saving a match point on her way to beating Caroline Wozniacki at the tournament.

Shortly after her famous victory, Li told how her preparations for the most important match of her life had been badly disrupted by her husband and coach Jiang Shan.

She said: "I am so happy to be the first Chinese player to be in a final. I didn't sleep very well last night, my husband was snoring and I was waking up every hour."

Li, who turns 29 next month, will play Belgian Kim Clijsters in the final and stands to take home around £1.38 million if she is victorious.
