Many big cities in China had population increased more than 30% over last decade. Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chengdu each increased more than 5 millions. China has now at least 10 mega cities with population over 10 millions: Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Wuhan, Hangzhou, Zhengzhou, Nanjing, Xi'an, Changsha, etc.
Many increased 1-4 millions. China now has more than 40 cities with population more than 3 millions in urban built-up area. There are some failed real estate projects in come cities but no empty city.

Using land reclamation, China has built arguably the world's largest man-made tourist resort island, spanning roughly 8 square kilometers (3 square miles), Ocean Flower Island is 1.4 times the size of Dubai’s famed Palm Jumeirah.
I encourage the Western media to dub this the ghost island.

It must be absolutely perplexing to Indians that despite having the "superior" democratic and free political system, THEY are the ones living with no indoor plumbing, no toilets, little to no electricity, open sewers, garbage everywhere, human bodies floating down the Ganges, and an out-of-control Covid outbreak across the entire country.
Meanwhile, the Chinese (terribly oppressed by an authoritarian government) are living like this.
Incidentally, it has now been 8 years since Lesley Stahl did her little 60 Minutes report on China's ghost cities. We're all waiting for the follow-up report.

Who cares? The people who produce and reguriate this fakenews, spins and disnformation in first place are not purely ignorant. Some may not be as bright which correlates with that attitude, but the root is a rotten culture that encourages them to lie and lie to themself to harm and at least disparage others.
China creates 100 projects an 99 succeed. American state propaganda will create 100 fake reports pointing fingers at the 1 that didnt plus and suddenly everything is wrong with China from top to bottom for the next 10 years because of that one lie.
Turns out the last didnt fail either. Either they double down, feign ignorance, deny it or just ask what about the 10 others that failed!!??
America creates 50 projects and 5 fail or fall short. Thats just normal! Look how pretty town 27 is! Overall success. Well it was mentioned once in some press archive but thats the past now! Whatabout China!
Replace America with every other overseas sour grap or 90% success moon crashlanders.
They measure China by its worst points and failures, for each of them 10 others they just fabricated, while measuring themself by national myths and the greatest accomplishments arbitrarily covering anything in Europe to North Africa to the Persian empire wrapped under some arbitrarily defined labels like "The West", constantly preaching from their bum, as if America or Britain invented any concept of state management, architecture, roadbuilding, down to spoons, shoes and hairbrushes before China.
Even if Kangbashi had completely failed due to outside influence affecting employment opportunities. That shit can just happen at the scale China operates and theres nothing to be ashamed of as long as lessons are learned or the course even early enough corrected and people if errors have been made held responsible, instead of the whole story forgotten because some new election circus happend and nobody is responsible for anything anymore or cares about anything before the project is even finished.
