Chemicals import from India to save millions

Karachi—Former Vice President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and former Chairman Pakistan Chemical and Dyes Merchant Association (PCDMA), Haroon Agar has expressed hoped that Pakistani importers will save 1,500 dollars per container on the import of chemicals, dyes and other raw materials from India.

Talking to newsmen, he said importers at present are paying 1,800 dollars per container freight charges on import of goods from China. Freight changes per container from India come to 300 dollars, he added:tup:. He said import of raw material from India will benefit local industrial which will get raw material at reduced rate having positive impact on cost of manufacturing besides saving in freight charges

He welcome the meeting held between of Prime Ministers, Yousuf Raza Gilani and his India counterpart, Manmohan Singh at the 17th summit of Saarc at Addu islands and expressed hoped that it will help improve trade and economic ties. “Granting Most Favoured Nation to India is an economic issue by virtue of which we can gain a foothold into one of the fastest growing markets in the world, he said. This step can bring millions of rupees to the exchequer in terms of additional export revenues and bring about job opportunities to thousands of unemployed youth of Pakistan, he added.

He said that both the countries would be required to dismantle non-tariff barriers to move towards normalisation of trade, adding that is not something new as both the countries had enjoyed MFN status from 1947 to 1965 and signed four agreements. This would be beneficial for people of both the countries; especially Pakistani businessmen would get a market of over one billion consumers, he concluded.

Good going Pakistan.. military conflicts should not disrupt trade and economic progress!

The money saved could go into developing new weapons...or for uplifting of Kashmiris!!

Well said. Trade is the only way forward. Let the traders of both sides take control rather than armies.Just imagine what can
Pakistan do with this money.:tup:

Or for extra funding to fight against Balouchistan, or better spending it on health and schooling, but you wouldn't want that!
