ALMATY – The Central Asia South Asia Electricity Transmission and Trade Project (CASA-1000) will invite contractors to bid for rights to build multi-terminal high-voltage direct current converter stations in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan, according to a November 11 CASA-1000 statement.
The invitation for pre-qualification describes planned electrical facilities in the three countries. Interested contractors have until December 23 to apply for pre-qualification. CASA-1000 expects to invite bidding around the first quarter of 2014.
If completed, CASA-1000 would steer Kyrgyz and Tajik hydro-power to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
